Day One: Bold Strokes, Bright Starts – Cape Co-Ed Cup Heats Up

The opening day of the WorksheetCloud.com Cape Co-Ed U13 Cup powered by Belgotex Sport gave us exactly what we hoped for, fire, flair, and the first brushstrokes on this year’s canvas of champions.

A massive shout-out to SuperSport Schools for making it possible for families around the country to catch the action live, and an even bigger thank you to our title sponsor WorksheetCloud.com, your support is helping write this beautiful story, one match at a time.

BOYS: Title Hopes Begin to Take Shape

Pool A:

Beaumont and Rondebosch each picked up two wins from two, setting up a Saturday showdown that is essentially a virtual quarter-final. Beaumont’s Gideon Goosen has three goals to his name and looks to be the key figure. Rondebosch started strong and showed resilience in a gritty win over Worcester.

Pool B:

Gene Louw are in the driver’s seat after back-to-back thrillers:

  • 2-1 over Paarl Boys
  • 4-3 over De Hoop
With Matthew Louw finding the back of the net, they now only need a draw against Outeniqua to seal a Cup semi-final berth.

Pool C:

Kenridge, last year’s co-champions, were ruthless on Day 1:

  • 6-0 vs Somerset (4 goals for Zach Joseph)
  • 4-0 vs Durbanville
Their goal difference (+10) means they could even afford a stumble against Hermanus and still make the semis.

Pool D:

Bishops, the other half of the 2024 title share, are on a mission to keep the trophy all to themselves:

  • 6-0 vs Curro Durbanville (2 goals from Max Wides)
  • 3-0 vs Stellenbosch
Even a narrow loss to Somerset could still see them through, unless that loss is by four or more goals.

GIRLS: Drama in Every Pool

Pool A:

A four-way deadlock has left us gasping.
Outeniqua, Somerset, Curro Durbanville, and Panorama each have a win and a loss, and barely a breath separates them on goal difference.

  • Somerset vs Panorama
  • Outeniqua vs Curro Durbanville
Saturday’s results will come down to fine margins. Get the calculators ready.

Pool B:

It’s far simpler here: Kenridge and Sweet Valley both beat Beaumont and Worcester, and now face off in a true winner-goes-through clash.
Kenridge have a slight edge on goal difference, but this one is anyone’s game.

Pool C:

Gene Louw and De Hoop remain locked after a morning 0-0 draw, but both responded with convincing afternoon wins.
It’s a pressure-cooker scenario now as each team tries to outdo the other in their final fixtures:

  • De Hoop vs Wynberg Girls
  • Gene Louw vs Hermanus

Pool D:

Stellenbosch looked flawless with two wins, 10 goals scored and none conceded. But the defending champions Durbanville are lurking.
If they can pull off a win against Stellenbosch, their title defense could live to see the knockouts.

As we head into Day 2, one thing is clear: the WorksheetCloud.com Cape Co-Ed Cup is painting new memories with every whistle and every goal.

Bring your best. Bring your colour. And let’s see which names get framed in glory.
